Carl Llindner and many other local financial and political leaders broke ground on the new "Great American Building" which will be Cincinnati's tallest.
A 41 story skyscraper going up on Sycamore between third and fourth.
"The investment and commitment is going to provide needed economic growth, stability to the greater Cincinnati region," commented Senator George Voinovich.
There's a fancy design at the top of the building... the architect says was inspired by a photo of the late Princess Diana wearing her tiara.
A new skyscraper is about to be built in downtown Cincinnati. Today community leaders will be there for the offical groundbreaking.
It'll be known as the Great American Building at Queen City Square.
It's being built along Sycamore Street between Third and Forth Streets.
The project will have 3 main parts.
A 17 hundred car parking garage on the first 11 levels.
Then a 33 level office tower above that and a pedestrian promenade from the office lobby to the main rotunda.
At the bottom on the street level there will be retail spaces.
The architect says the design was inspired by a photo of the late Princess Diana wearing her tiara.
The offical groundbreaking ceremony starts at noon.
The building won't be finished until 2011.
