Bob Dylan has released 32 studio albums throughout his career, securing his position as a major figure in popular music over the past five decades. The release of Dylan's 1963 album The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan marked his emergence as one of the most original and poetic voices in the history of American popular music. The album kicked off with "Blowin' in the Wind", which is one of his most celebrated songs and "The Times They Are A-Changin" which came in at number 59 on Rolling Stone's list of Top 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
Dylan's most recent studio album Modern Times, was released in 2006 and entered the U.S. album chart at number one and was named Album of the Year by Rolling Stone Magazine the following year. Bob Dylan is recognized for his songwriting, recording and performing. In 2004, Dylan was ranked #2 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "Greatest Artists of All time", second to the Beatles. Dylan's most recent recognition was in 2008 when he was awarded a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation for his "profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary power."
