UPDATE: Second person arrested for helping escaped inmate

UPDATE: Sheriff's detectives have arrested and charged a second person for assisting in the escpae of Juan Possontay.

Pedro Maldonado, 33, of Cincinnati, faces charges of obstructing justice. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for driving under suspension.   

Maldonado is accused of providing transportation and clothing to Possontay. Investigation indicates that Maldonado picked Possontay up in a vehicle at Adams and Pippin, and provided him with clothing.

UPDATE: Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputies have captured inmate Juan Possontay.

Possontay was arrested Friday morning outside a BP station at Interstate 74 and Northbend Road in Green Township following a citizen tip.

Police say Possontay admitted to detectives he is an illegal immigrant. Following further investigation, he will be transported to the Hamilton County Justice Center to await arraignment on the escape charge.

PREVIOUSLY:

Deputies in Hamilton County are looking for an inmate who escaped work detail on Thursday afternoon.

Police say between noon and 12:30 p.m., inmate Juan Possontay, 21, walked away in the 9000 block of East Miami River Road in Cincinnati. He had been working on details since June 27, 2008.

Possontay is described as a male Hispanic, 5'3", 125 lbs., black hair, brown eyes. His last known address 6216 Cheviot Road, Apt. 3, Cincinnati.

Possontay was arrested June 5, 2008, on a misdemeanor assault and was awaiting trial. He faces additional charges of escape, a felony of the fifth degree.
