FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) -- The family of Sharon Gette is obviously deeply upset. They are planning her funeral and caring her mother, Barbara Rogers, at University Hospital. They're also trying to figure out why they were targeted.
The family says nothing about having homicide detectives in their front yard made sense on Wednesday night, and still doesn't now.
"He took my mother away from me...she is all that I had in this world...he took a grandmother away from two grandkids whom she loved," said Kelly King, Sharon's daughter.
Florence police say Gette and Rogers were found stabbed around 7:30 p.m. in a home on Raintree Drive.
Police say 39-year old Sean Noakes is responsible for the crime.
"He was just a neighbor guy, an acquaintance...everybody just knew him around the area...we've all grown up here...but he was never a boyfriend or ex...never nothing," said King.
Noakes was arrested at a Longhorn Steakhouse two miles from the crime scene. The family says it's maddening.
"He's been in and out of the system for 15 years. He has a criminal history a mental history. He shouldn't have been on the streets to begin with," said King.
"We'll get through this just a long as people know...be careful...be safe don't trust anyone it's not worth it," said family member Robert Faehr.
But King has another thought.
"I will be there until he receives the death penalty...this man will die for this crime," she said.
