MONTGOMERY, OH (FOX19) -- Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters and Montgomery Police Chief Don Simpson are asking the public's help in keeping a convicted bank robber behind bars.

Greg Cooper, formerly of Loveland, and his co-defendant Wayne Cornett, were convicted of robbing the Society National Bank in Montgomery in December of 1989. Cooper showed a revolver as he ordered three tellers not to sound the alarm or they would be killed.

As they fled, Cooper was approached by a Montgomery police officer. Cooper fired shots at the officer, striking him in the chest and hand. The officer was wearing a bullet proof vest and not critically injured.

In August, the Ohio Adult Parole Authority will be considering Cooper for parole. Deters urges the community to voice their opposition to Cooper's possible parole by visiting and clicking the 'Parole Watch' section.
