HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -- Judge David Niehaus, a judge with the juvenile division of the Butler County Common Pleas court, has died. He was 64.

The Butler County coroner's office says Niehaus died Thursday night at Fort Hamilton Hospital of natural causes. He apparently had a heart attack.

Niehaus is a graduate of Ohio State University and the Salmon P. Chase College of Law. Niehaus was a judge for 27 years. He became the county's first Juvenile Court judge 21 years ago.

In May, Niehaus sentenced a man to 180 days in jail for not making sure his 18-year-old daughter with a history of truancy got her high school equivalency diploma. The judge later ordered the man released when the teen agreed to finish her required work.
