UPDATE: Woman cited for crash that injured officer

UPDATE

Officer Bernecker was taken to U.C. Hospital, was released later, and is now recovering from his injuries.

Carol Youker was cited to court on the charges of operating a motor vehicle intoxicated.  Her blood test results are still pending

PREVIOUSLY:

A Colerain Township police officer was taken to the hospital Monday night after he was involved in an accident on I-275.

Police say patrol officer Rick Bernecker was assisting a disabled motorist who was blocking the high speed lane of I-275 on Monday night when another vehicle driven by Carol Youker, of Springfield, struck Officer Bernecker's patrol car. The patrol car then struck Officer Bernecker, who had just exited his vehicle to speak with the driver of the disable vehicle. Officer Bernecker was thrown over the guardrail and down an embankment.

UPDATE
