Poll shows support for casino in southwest Ohio

A new poll shows that 60 percent of Ohioans back a proposal to build a casino in southwest Ohio between Columbus and Cincinnati. The same number support putting casinos at other spots around Ohio.

Casino backers have turned in more than 760,000 petition signatures to Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner in an attempt to place the casino proposal on the November ballot. The $600 million casino and resort would be built near the city of Wilmington in Clinton County.

The Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pee-ak) University poll released Wednesday shows strongest support for the casino in northeast and southwest Ohio.

The poll conducted last week has a margin of error of 2.7 percentage points.
