SOUTHGATE, KY (FOX19) -- Firefighters in Southgate spent much of the night on the scene of a house fire.
Flames broke out around 2 a.m. at a vacant home on Walnut Street.
The smell was so strong that people in Newport, a mile and a half away, called it in.
A firefighter had to be treated for heat exhaustion, but is expected to be OK.
