FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) -- It was a big disappointment last year when the late Joe Nuxhall didn't make it into the baseball Hall of Fame.

But his supporters are trying again, and they need your help.

Here locally there are a lot of tributes to Joe Nuxhall, like the statue outside of Great American Ball Park, but several of his family and friends would like to see him recognized nationally.

Last year when the community got behind Joe Nuxhall, he earned a record breaking 82,000 online votes, the most fan votes out of anyone nominated.

But the selection committee passed him over. So this year, we'll try again.

There's a kick off rally Tuesday at noon at Fairfield's Village Green Park.

It's part of a regional effort to get the late Reds broadcaster nominated for the 2009 Ford C. Frick broadcaster's award.

Butler County Commissioner Greg Jolivette is heading this campaign. He's launched a website to help you access the online voting.
