UPDATE: Motorcyclist in Loveland crash identified

LOVELAND, OH (FOX19) --

UPDATE: Police have identified the victim as Sean P. Dougherty, 32, of Trenton, Ohio.

Police say Dougherty was driving with a suspended drivers license and was in possession of crystal meth.

The investigation into the accident is continuing.

PREVIOUSLY:

A man has died following a motorcycle crash in Loveland.

It happened around 10:45 p.m. Monday night near the intersection of W. Loveland AVe. and Lebanon Road.

Police say a Loveland Police Officer attempted to stop a black Honda motorcycle for a traffic violation in the area of Loveland Madeira Road and W. Loveland Ave. The motorcycle accelerated and fled from the officer as soon as the officer activated his emergency lights.

The officer attempted to catch up with the motorcycle, but lost sight of it in the area of W. Loveland Ave. and Lebanon Road. After the officer went through the intersection, he found the motorcycle on its side at a curve in the roadway.

Police say the driver was ejected from the motorcycle and crashed into a fence. The officer called for emergency crews to the scene and the driver was taken to Bethesda North Hospital, where he died.

The driver's name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
