Man arrested for abusing a child in Liberty Twp.

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP( FOX19) -- A Liberty Township man is facing charges after he is accused of abusing a 21 month old child.

On Sept. 9, Butler County Officers and the Butler County Children's services responded to the Liberty Township Children's Hospital. Officials received a report of a child having questionable injuries.

The child was then transported to Cincinnati Children's Hospital for additional treatment. After and examination of the child and investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Detectives, 20-year- old James Fitzhugh was arrested for causing the injuries to the child.

Investigators say he was providing care for the child in his home when the abuse took place.

Fitzhugh has been charged with two counts of Rape and two counts of Child Endangering. He is being held in the Butler County Jail with a $70,000 bond.

The child's injuries are non-life threatening and is reported to be recovering at home with the mother.
