NEW CASTLE, DE (WTXF)-- A Girl Scout troop leader has been charged with stealing money from her group's cookie sales.

31-year-old Kelly Ivey has been charged with two counts of Felony Theft. Delaware State Police says she stole more than 3,000 dollars in Girl Scout Cookie money raised from selling hundreds of boxes. Ivey was the leader of Troop 87 in New Castle.

The theft was found after a routine audit showed that Ivey failed to deposit the money collected. A mother of a girl scout and the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council alerted officials.

Kelly Ivey was released on a 3,000 dollar bail and will be back in court on October 8th.
