Nuxhall finalist for Ford C. Frick Award

COOPERSTOWN, NY (FOX19) - The ten finalists for the Ford C. Frick award for the broadcaster's wing of the baseball hall of fame have been announced, and once again, Joe Nuxhall has received the most online votes.

Nuxhall received 19,547 online votes. He is one of three broadcasters to become a finalist based on online fan voting. The others are Jacques Doucet (10,282) and Tom Cheek (8,992).

The trio joins seven other broadcasters selected by a Hall of Fame research committee: Billy Berroa, Ken Coleman, Dizzy Dean, Lanny Frattare, Tony Kubek, Graham McNamee and Dave Van Horne.

The winner of the award will be announced at the baseball winter meetings in December of 2009.

Voting will be conducted by a 20-member electorate, comprised of the 15 living Frick Award recipients and five broadcast historians/columnists, including past Frick honoree Marty Brennaman.

Nuxhall was also the highest online vote getter last year, after his hometown of Hamilton launched a "Vote for Joe" campaign. His supporters launched the same campaign again this year.
