Ky. governor says state economic future uncertain

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear says state revenue dropped by 4.6 percent in September, signaling that "storm clouds continue to gather over our economy."

Beshear said in a press conference Thursday that he has assembled a team of top government officials to look for ways to protect and expand the state's economy.

Kentucky lawmakers approved a two-year $19 billion state budget earlier this year expecting that state revenue would grow by 2.6 percent over the next two fiscal years. Beshear says his administration also is setting up a Web site to help people with home mortgage information and finding health insurance.
