Bicyclist killed in Crosby Township

CROSBY TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A bicyclist was struck and killed Wednesday morning in Crosby Township.

It happened on Hamilto-Cleves Highway, north of Stricker's Grove, just before 7 a.m.

Police say Mr. Ronald Rumker, 51, of Fairfield, Ohio, was riding his bicycle along the right side of State Route 128 when he was struck from behind by a southbound motor vehicle.

Mr. Rumker was propelled off the bicycle coming to final rest on the west side of the roadway.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle involved was a 2001 Chevrolet 3500 work truck operated by Mr. Michael R. Chaney, 51, of Fairfield, Ohio.

Drugs and/or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.  Mr. Chaney was utilizing his safety restraint device.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit.
