COLERAIN TWP., OH (FOX19) -- A teenage girl is recovering at Children's Hospital after being hit by a car in Colerain Township Thursday afternoon.

The teen was crossing the street at the intersection of Colerain Avenue and Round Top Road when she was struck by 31-year-old Juan Chavez who was driving a Honda Civic.

Officials say that the girl was legally crossing the road inside a marked crosswalk when Chavez was turning onto Colerain Avenue.

The teenager was taken to Children's Hospital. Her injuries are considered not life threatening.

Juan Chavez was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and operating a vehicle without a licence.

Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the incident.
