BURLINGTON, KY (WXIX) -
UPDATE: The teenage boy who escaped from guards has been found, thanks to a phone call to the police department. All the children whose parents were asked to meet at the bus stop have gotten home safely.
Boone County parents near Burlington are being asked to meet their children at the bus stop while sheriff deputies search for a juvenile who escaped from custody.
The 17 year old got away from the Boone County Justice center on Rogers Lane in Burlington. He was with 6 other juveniles who were all handcuffed and shackled at the Justice Center.
Boone County Sheriff deputies describe the escapee as a white male, medium height, medium weight, and short borwn hair wearing a gray sweatshirt, tan pants, yellow handcuffs, and leg shackles.
Deputies are searching an area to the south of the courthouse in the area of East Bend Road and Rogers Lane adn the area in between.
The juvenile was not armed at the time of his escape and the sheriff has no reason to believe he is an immediate danger to others but anyone who sees or comes in contact with him to call 9-1-1.
The Boone County Schools affected were Burlington Elementary, Stephens Elementary, Camp Ernest Middle School and Cooper High School.
