MOUNT AIRY, OH (FOX19) - Investigators are calling a Mount Airy home a total loss following a fire.
Flames broke out just before 11 a.m. in the 5600 block of Buttercup.
Investigators say a 10-year-old boy and his mother were home at the time. They made it out uninjured, but their family dog died.
Crews say when they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames showing from the back of the house on the first floor. The fire extended all the way to the attic.
"We had quite a bit of fire," said District Chief Glenn Coleman.
Two cars in the driveway and a neighboring home also suffered damage.
