UPDATE: T.I. is expected to testify Friday in the trial.

Big name rapper T.I. will testify in the murder of one of his close friends and personal assistants.

The hip hop star will likely have plenty of security around him when he shows up at the Hamilton County Courthouse.

T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, was in Cincinnati back in May of 2006 when he was just a rising star for a concert at a Roselawn Club.

Brothers Hosea and Padron Thomas face murder charges after they were upset they weren't allowed into the club's V.I.P. area. Hosea Thomas is currently on trial.

Gunfire was exchanged while the two groups were driving down Interstate 75 near the Seymour Avenue exit.

When the smoke cleared, Philant Johnson, T.I.'s personal assistant, was dead and three others were hurt. T.I. was not injured.

The rapper's duet with Rihanna "Live Your Life" is currently No. 1 on the Hot 100 and the single "Whatever You Like" is also on that list.
