This Saturday numerous area musicians will join together at the Southgate House for benefit to honor the memory and music of Katie Reider. 

Katie Reider was an indie folk-rock singer/songwriter from Cincinnati, Ohio.  In July of 2007, Katie was diagnosed with a rare tumor that ate into her jaw and face, stole her voice, left her blind in one eye and ultimately killed her July 14, 2008 at the age of 30. Katie had two young children and her devoted life partner Karen, whom she had been with for 10 years.

Bands performing include Kelly Thomas & The Fabulous Pickups, Lauren Houston, G. Burton, Emily Strand (full band), Carole Walker, Whitney Barricklow (full band), Crick Gypsies, Catie Curtis, Lines and Spaces, The Screaming Mimes , Downtown County Band, Tupelo Honey (Heather & Katie), Ann Driscoll. Katie Reider's drummer Bill McCarthy will be sitting in with both Emily Strand and Whitney Barricklow. Katie's songs will also be performed by a majority of the performers.

The event is this Saturday November 29, 2008 at The Southgate House in Newport, KY.
