AURORA, IN (FOX19) --In the late nineteenth century, Aurora was home to the world famous Crescent Brewery.
It's long gone, but that hand-crafted spirit is back.
The Great Crescent Brewery is open and ready to serve you, and is true find for beer loves in Aurora.
Milling the grains, brewing, condition and even packaging; every aspect of the brewery process is done in house.
"I've been brewing for about 17 years and we've been competing in amateur competitions for most of those 17 years," says Dan Valas, owner of the great Crescent Brewery.
Dan and his wife, Lani, opened the brewery last month after purchasing the building at 327 Second Street in downtown Aurora.
Crescent Brewery was the last brewery in the city and sat on the banks of the Ohio . the depot was located on what is now U.S. 50.
But that was before 1900. Valas says it was time to bring it back.
"I think the citizens of aurora and Dearborn county are under served...I think they needed a craft brewery available to them," says Valas.
The beer is available in half-gallon bottles or in mini kegs. But Valas says that if you're not sure which on flavor to buy, they've got you covered.
" We give everybody a two ounce sample to help them decided," Valas said.
Currently in stock is Blonde Ale, which is Valas' own recipe, and a Mild StoutComing back to the shelves in January will be a Whitbier and a Cherry Ale.
