FORT THOMAS, KY (FOX19)-- A father is undergoing surgery after a cannon accident causes him to lose part of his hand during a celebration at Highlands High School.
On Friday Afternoon, the Highlands Bluebirds Football team was on their way to Louisville for their State Champion game. Fans were there to wish the team luck for the match.
As a part of the celebration a cannon was fired as the team was leaving. Brandon Roller, a player on the Highlands team tells FOX19 that his father, Steve Roller went to put the gunpowder in for the second shot of the cannon. The cannon was too hot and fired before Roller could get away.
We are also told that the victim lost part of his hand and was rushed to University Hospital where he is undergoing surgery. There is no word on his current condition.
