UPDATE: Bond set for pediatrician

UPDATE: Dr. Mark Blankenburg was in court on Thursday for arraignment.

Bond for Blankenburg was set at $1 million, one of the highest ever in Butler County.

He also had to give up his passport and is not allowed to practice medicine.

PREVIOUSLY:

A Butler County grand jury has indicted a local doctor on 27 counts.

Dr. Mark E. Blankenburg faces several charges, including one count of corruption of a minor, two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, two counts of corrupting another with drugs, 17 counts of trafficking in drugs and four counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs.

According to the indictment, the corruption of a minor offense happened in August of 1998, and the victim was between 13 and 16 years old. The unlawful sexual conduct occurred from January 1999 through December 2001, and again the victims were greater than 13 years old but less than 16 years old. The drug charges all occurred between 2005 and 2007.

According to online resources, Dr. Blankenburg is a pediatrician with Pediatrics of Fairfield and  Hamilton.

He will be arraigned at 10 a.m. Thursday.
