FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - Some horse owners and trainers who run horses at Turfway Park are thinking twice about putting their horses on that track.
They are concerned about a report from the chief vet for the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission who says eight horses died of racing injuries during last month's meet at Turfway.
That figure is double the total deaths from a year earlier.
Some local horse owners tell FOX19 that Turfway's synthetic track may be the problem.
It's been reconfigured twice in the last two years, and the Horse Racing Commission is demanding answers.
FOX19 requested a comment from Turfway president Bob Elliston, but was told he is out of town.
