Flynt wants bailout for the porn industry

NEW YORK, NY (CNN) - Is the porn industry really eligible for a piece of the bailout pie?

Industry titan Larry Flynt and "Girls Gone Wild" CEO Joe Francis want a $5 billion bailout.

Francis and Hustler's Flynt sent out a press release saying, because sales are down and jobs are at stake, the porn industry needs a government bailout.

"I figure why not they did it for the auto industry, they did it for the banks, you have a lot of unhappy people out there where sex is the furthest thing from their mind," said Flynt.

Flynt claims his business is off by about 25 percent, saying economic woes have affected peoples libidos. Vivid Entertainment, the leader in adult video sales also tells CNN business is down.

But talk to Vincent Morezes at odyssey video in los angeles and you get a much different story. He says business is up, just like it was after 911.

"I guess during hard times or tragedy, the adult sales or rentals just jump dramatically, its a huge onslaught of people just buying or renting," said Morezes. "With the economy being so bad, i think its just cheaper than a girlfriend."

Keep in mind Flynt is the same guy who "outed" congressmen for having alleged affairs during and after the Clinton impeachment hearings. He has a long history bashing politicians and admits he's not expecting a bailout.

"I'm dead serious about making congress look stupid. I think the American people should have more to say about those bailouts and how they are spending the money. These politicians have never handled money wisely since I've been in this world and I don't think they are going to start now," Flynt said.
