Former church music director pleads guilty to importuning

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - A 23-year-old former church music director has pled guilty to importuning.

Charles Garitson, of Monroe, plead guilty to Importuning in Warren County.  Importuning carries a possible prison sentence of twelve months.  Garitson's sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 18.

Garitson had Internet conversations with what he believed to be a 15 year old boy, but was actually a police officer. He arranged to meet the boy with the intent of having sexual relations with him. When Garitson arrived at the meeting place he was met by the police.

Garitson has spent a large amount of his time with children and teenagers. Prior to being arrested, he worked with local theatre groups, assisted teens in the band at Monroe High School and was music director at a church in a Hamilton.
