UPDATE: Man wanted for child porn found dead in jail

UPDATE: FEB 12:

SAN DIEGO, CA (FOX19) - Police say a man who was wanted for child porn charges died in his jail cell in California.

Bethel Police were informed that John Kopkowski was pronounced dead in his jail cell Thursday morning.

Officials say Kopkowski apparently killed himself by jumping from a second floor landing inside the San Diego  Jail.

Kopkowski was facing multiple child pornography charges and was arrested in California. He was awaiting extradition back to Ohio.

BETHEL, OH (FOX19) - Bethel Police say that an arrest has been made for a man who had been indicted on multiple child pornography charges.

John Kopkowski has been taken into custody in San Diego, California  afternoon around 6:00pm.

So far, police have not said when Kopkowski  will be brought back to Ohio.

FOX19 will update this story as soon as new information is available.

CLERMONT COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Police are on the look for a man who has been indicted on multiple child pornography charges.

The Clermont County Grand Jury has indicted John Kopkowski on 50 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor and illegal use of minor in nudity-oriented material or performance.

On December 12 of last year, Bethel Police Officers were called to a location for a report of child pornography being found on a computer that was being repaired. That computer was immediately seized by officials.

Soon after the computer was seized, Bethel and Batavia Police issued a search warrant for the home of Kopkowski. Numerous items of interest were taken form the home including children's clothing.

John Kopkowski has since left his home and has not been found. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to call the Bethel Police Department at 513-734-2256 or Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
