Christmas Tree Cookies

CHRISTMAS TREE COOKIES (makes about 4 dozen cookies)

4 c all-purpose flour
2 c granulated sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 c butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
½ c milk
1½ c raspberry jam
4 c sifted powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
5 T milk
Red-Hots candies
green food coloring

Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, and butter. In a separate bowl, lightly beat egg and ½ c of milk. Mix with flour-butter batter. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Using cookies cutters, cut into Christmas tree shapes. Bake at 375 〫 on an ungreased cookie sheet for about 9 minutes or till light brown on the bottom. Cool on wire rack.

Place about 1 tsp. raspberry jam on the bottom of 1 cookie, top with another cookie. Repeat with remaining cookies.

In a small mixing bowl, stir together powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough milk to make a glazing consistency. Add in several drops of green food coloring until desired color. Spread top of each cookie with some of the glaze. While icing is still wet, drop Red-Hots on each cookie for decoration. Allow icing to dry.
