UPDATE: Bond set in Springfield Township murder

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

UPDATE: Thomas Phelps appeared in court Tuesday morning, where his bond was set at $1 million.

UPDATE: The victim has been identifed as Corey Land, 37, of Forest Park.

Police say Land suffered what appears to be a single gun shot wound.

The suspect has been identified as Thomas Phelps, 39. He is being held in the Hamilton County Jail on one count of aggravated murder.

PREVIOUSLY:

An argument at a local bar has led to a murder.

It happened around 2 a.m. at the Almost Home Bar on Hamilton Ave.

Police say an argument between a bar employee and a patron got heated, so the pair took the fight outside, where the patron shot and killed the employee.

The SWAT team surrounded a home not far from the scene, where dispatchers say the suspect was taken into custody.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

Police searched through the garbage at Rumpke landfille for evidence and a murder weapon, but did not find a weapon.
