MIAMI TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A former Tri-State man is among the victims of a plane crash in New York.

Doug Wielinski, 61, died after Continental Connection Flight 3407 crashed into his home late Thursday night.  Fifty other passengers and crew on the flight also died.

Wielinski's wife, Karen, 57, and daughter, Jill, 22, were also home at the time of the crash, but were not injured.

The Wielinskis used to live in Miami Township in Clermont County. Their former neighbors say Doug Wielinski grew up in Buffalo, NY and moved to the Cincinnati area in the mid to late 1980's for business. The family moved back to New York in the late 1990's.

Gwen Hrovat, who lived a few streets away from the family when they lived in Miami Township, said Doug Wielinski was a U.S. Army veteran who loved running and collecting sports memorabilia.

Hrovat said she spoke with Karen Wielinski Friday morning. Karen Wielinski has an injured collarbone while Jill received minor bumps and bruises.

The Wielinskis have four daughters. One still lives at home, but was out with her fiancee at the time of the crash. Another daughter lives in Syracuse, NY, and another in Fort Thomas, KY.

When they lived in the Tri-State, the Wielinskis attended church at St. Columban Church in Loveland.

Hrovat said the family was here to visit in August.
