Teen found unconscious in neighbor's yard

PATRIOT, IN (FOX19) - Police are investigating how a teenage boy ended up unconcious in a neighbor's yard.

The teen was discovered around 10:30 a.m. Monday near a home on Bluffview Drive

Police say they aren't sure how the boy got there, but say he was beat up pretty badly and covered in blood.

He was air-lifted to Children's Hospital.

Investigators say it's not the first time the boy ended up in this condition.

"There was a report some time last year, where he was also found in someone yard and appeared to maybe have been beaten up," said Det. Richard Lock with the Switzerland County Sheriff's Dept.

Neighbors say the boy may have special needs and that he used to live in Patriot, but moved with his parents to northern Kentucky. He was in Patriot again to visit his girlfriend.

"Right now we don't have any type of evidence to go on too much, and nobody up there in the area had seen him since the night before," said Lock.

Lock says the teen is awake, and will be interviewed once he's released from the hospital.

No arrests have been made and police say there are no suspects. If you have any information, call Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
