Snow, wind cause hectic morning commute

A brief burst of snow coupled with high winds caused a messy morning commute on Thursday.

Numerous accidents scattered local roads due to slick roads. In northern Kentucky, several accidents were reported around the I-275 area around 7 a.m. The accidents caused several backups.

In Boone County, elementary schools were placed on a two hour delay and school buses were pulling off the road so the roads can be salted.

Ronald Reagan Highway also had to be shut down this morning so crews could lay salt.

Interstate 74 in Indiana has also been a problem area, and several schools in Indiana are closed. Click here for a complete list of school closings.

Snow accumulation was minor, but cold temperatures and high winds caused low visibility and slick conditions.
