COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - Two covington schools will close their doors for the last time this spring.
The Board of Education voted unanimosuly on Tuesday to close Thomas Edison Elementary and Two Rivers Middle School.
The board says the move will relocate the students, save the district more than $1 million and save dozens of teaching jobs.
"With the way the finances are throughout the country, tough decisions have to be made and I believe we made a tough decision, but a right decision," said board member Mike Fitzgerald.
Starting in the fall, students at Thomas Edison Elementary will go to either John G. Carlisle or Sixth District.
Middle schoolers at Two Rivers will move into their own building at Holmes High School.
