Defense rests in McCafferty case

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - Defense attorneys for Cheryl McCafferty rested their case on Thursday.

McCafferty is the Fort Thomas woman accused of murdering her husband in June of 2007. She claims she killed him in self-defense.

Prosecutors began calling rebuttal witnesses to the stand Thursday afternoon. There will be no court on Friday, and testimony will continue on Monday. The case will then move into closing arguments, and then the jury will begin deliberation.

McCafferty faces life in prison if convicted.
