Thick cloud cover and rain showers represent a one-two punch to high temperatures in the Tri-state. When both are present high temperatures are cooler than without. Cloud cover, of course, blocks the warming rays of the sun and rain cools the air when many of the rain drops evaporate on the way to the ground.
Rain will be widespread overnight with some thunder but I do not expect severe storms. More rain is in the forecast tomorrow then Friday looks dry. Saturday and Sunday will both have periods of rain and thunder. I do not se an all-day rain event either day but both will have interruptions to your outdoor activities.
