CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Good news may be hard to come by for government workers and their families during the shutdown but a Cincinnati restaurant is looking to lend a helping hand.

SENATE, a restaurant with locations in Over-the-Rhine and Blue Ash says they’ll feed all government employees and their children for free.

The restaurant posted the message on their Facebook page Friday.

“We’ve never been a fan of taking money out of the pockets of hard working men and women therefore we’ll be providing free food for all government workers and their kids effected by the government shutdown,” the restaurant said in the post.

They’re inviting all workers to stop by and let them ‘take off a little stress’ and let them ‘pick up your meal.’

They said the offer is valid for both of their location and ended the message with a few hashtags -- you know those things that look like the pound or number sign -- one with a very pointed meaning.

“America is better than this” is how they signed off.

The restaurant didn’t specify how long their offer would last.

The shutdown is currently impacting 420,00 federal employees nationwide and centers around President Trump’s demand for $5.7 billion to fund a wall along the Mexican border.
