CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Funeral arrangements have been set and procession details released for the Clermont County deputy who was killed during a 12-hour standoff in Pierce Township.

The deadly incident began Saturday evening and ended early Sunday morning.

Twenty-year veteran Deputy Bill Brewer was shot and killed while responding to the Royal Oak Apartments where 23-year-old Wade Edward Winn had barricaded himself inside.

Lt. Nick DeRose, 22-year veteran with the sheriff’s office, was shot in the ankle. He was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, treated and released.

Clermont County prosecutors said in court Monday they plan to seek the death penalty for Winn.

He is charged with aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder in the shooting death of Brewer, and shooting and wounding DeRose.

Brewer leaves behind a wife and 5-year-old son.

A public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 7 at Mt. Carmel Christian Church located at 4110 Bach Buxton Road in Batavia.

“Due to the overwhelming support of law enforcement and Fire/EMS, as well as the community, we are asking that all public who would like to attend (on Friday), be directed to the public viewing at Crossroads East Side, next to Jungle Jim’s,” said Chief Deputy Chris Stratton. “This will allow West Clermont High and Middle School parking to be strictly used for overflow capacity of first responders who are attending.”

Crossroads East Side is located at 4450 Eastgate South Dr. Doors open to the public Friday at 9 a.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Church. Interment will follow at Pierce Township Cemetery.

Classes will be canceled Friday at West Clermont middle and high schools. The parking lots will be used for the funeral services that are expected to require the extra space.

E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in Amelia said on Twitter West Clermont High School and Middle School offered up their parking lots for overflow parking. They say there will be a shuttle bus to take people to the church and back.

The procession will begin at noon Friday immediately following the funeral. It will be led by the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office Motor Unit, followed by outside agency motor units then the hearse. The family will be in a limousine right behind the hearse followed by first responders. The procession will proceed as follows:

  • Left onto Bach Buxton
  • Left onto Clough Pike
  • Left onto Main Street Batavia (Central Joint Fire and EMS ladder trucks will be on Main Street)
  • Enter West on State Route 32
  • South on Interstate 275 (Union Township Fire Department ladder trucks on the overpass at Wilfert Drive)
  • Exit onto eastbound Ohio 125
  • South onto Merwin 10 Mile Road
  • West onto Locust Corner Road (Locus Corner Road will be shut down from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for parking)
