PIERCE TWP, OH (FOX19) - A memorial fund has been been set up for the family of the Clermont County deputy who was killed during a 12-hour standoff in Pierce Township.
The deadly incident began Saturday evening and ended early Sunday morning.
Twenty-year veteran Deputy Bill Brewer was shot and killed while responding to the Royal Oak Apartments where 23-year-old Wade Edward Winn had barricaded himself inside.
Lt. Nick DeRose, 22-year veteran with the sheriff’s office, was shot in the ankle. He was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, treated and released.
Clermont County prosecutors said in court Monday they plan to seek the death penalty for Winn.
He is charged with aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder in the shooting death of Brewer, and shooting and wounding DeRose.
Brewer leaves behind a wife and 5-year-old son.
“Our office has received an abundance of calls in reference to donating to the Brewer family,” said Chief Deputy Chris Stratton.
