8 arrested after six-hour police standoff in Madison, Indiana
Four people were held against their will, police say
MADISON, IN (FOX19) - Indiana State Police have arrested eight individuals after a six-hour standoff on Friday in Madison, Indiana.
Trooper Andrew Garrett was investigating a report of a theft that led him to the 100 block of Taft Drive, according to ISP.
At approximately 6:00 p.m. officers approached four people of interest outside of the residence, said police.
Joshua M. Moreno, 39, fled from officers and entered an apartment at the address.
The Indiana State Police SWAT team and hostage negotiators responded to the scene after realizing that at least four people were being held against their will and several others were in the apartment.
At approximately 10:00 p.m., four individuals were released from the apartment.
All of the remaining individuals exited the apartment at 12:00 a.m. and surrendered to law enforcement.
Eight individuals were arrested on various charges and were all transported to Jefferson County Jail.
Moreno was charged with four counts of kidnapping, four counts of criminal confinement, burglary, and resisting law enforcement.
Jeremy Mikesell, 31, was charged with parole violation, possession of paraphernalia, and receiving stolen property.
Devan L. Hall, 33, was charged with receiving stolen property.
Olivia D. Gayle, 19, was charged with assisting a criminal, resisting law enforcement and possession of paraphernalia.
Dahlila A. Jester, 20, Rylee P. Mahoney 22, Robert E. McGaughey, 31, and Ezra M. Engle, 18, were all charged with assisting a criminal and resisting law enforcement,
