DEER PARK, OH (FOX19) – A woman says she feels violated after catching a delivery driver rummaging through her mail Wednesday afternoon.
Frequent online shopper Julie Smith says she orders from Amazon on almost a weekly basis and has never had issues with deliveries until this week. Smith caught a delivery man on camera dropping her packages off on her front porch and then get into her mailbox.
FOX19 has blurred the driver’s face because he has not been charged with anything.
“He was probably trying to see if I had something worth anything. Maybe my tax return or a check from the IRS or my W-2s? Anything that’s supposed to come around this time,” said Smith.
She says the man had no reason to open her mailbox because he delivered the packages to her front porch. She also says he did not need to verify her address because the numbers are on her mailbox in bold numbers.
FOX19 reached out to AMAZON for comment and a spokesperson said the delivery driver is employed through a third party delivery service company. The statement from AMAZON goes on to say: “This does not reflect the standards we have for delivery service partners. We are addressing this with the delivery service partner and will work with the customer directly to make things right.”
Smith called the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
“They told me that there isn’t anything they can do because he didn’t take mail,” she said.
