CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A man accused of causing a multi-vehicle cash and abandoning two children at the scene appeared in court Friday morning.

Monty Walton, Jr., 30, crashed his vehicle into five other vehicles while driving recklessly and under the influence of alcohol near Reed Hartman Highway on April 4, court documents say.

Walton had a four-year-old child and a two-year-old child with him in the vehicle, officials say.

They say he then took the children out of the vehicle and walked away from the crash without giving any of his information or checking for injuries.

Other drivers involved in the crash followed Walton and the children as they walked up the ramp to Reed Hartman Highway, trying to stop him, officials say.

When police arrived, Walton left the children with a stranger and ran into the woods.

Police say they searched for an hour and a half before finding and arresting Walton.

They say they smelled alcohol on him and conducted a field sobriety test where they determined he was impaired. A Breathalizer showed his BAC as .147.
