CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati police are investigating a shooting Saturday evening in Over-the-Rhine.
Police say several shots were fired on Walnut Street near Liberty Street in Over-the-Rhine on Saturday around 6 p.m.
A Cincinnati police sergeant at the scene said the victim was shot in the buttocks and he’s expected to recover. The sergeant said the victim was uncooperative and no one has been arrested.
This is the second shooting in Over-the-Rhine since Friday night.
The sergeant said he’s seen an uptick in shootings with the nicer weather.
A sentiment echoed by mother of two, Tasha Reynolds. She said the shootings scare her.
“I just always second guess myself, like should I, you know come out and enjoy, have my kids play out at the park, or should I just stay in the house and go somewhere else” said Reynolds.
The shooting on Walnut happened very close to Grant Rec Area Playground.
Several people said they’ve seen an increase in shootings in this area, but they didn’t want to go on camera to discuss it.
Reynolds said these shootings make her more aware of her surroundings, especially with her two girls.
“It’s sometimes I can sit at this park and have my kids play and that’s when it’s not a big crowd and sometimes when it’s big and there’s a lot of people around and stuff, I’ll be like no, and I’ll go somewhere else,” she said.
Another shooting in Over-the-Rhine had Cincinnati Police busy Friday night.
Police said the shooting victim was attending a memorial for his brother when he was shot. He also said the victim did not cooperate with police and no arrests have been made.
