CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Darrin Horn has reached an agreement to become the next head coach at Northern Kentucky.
Horn has spent the past four seasons as an assistant under Shaka Smart at the University of Texas.
“Basketball matters here. It matters in this area, it matters in this state. There are a lot of talented players in this area and the quality of the game is very good which is exciting," Horn said.
Horn does have head coaching experience. Prior to joining the Texas staff, Horn was the head coach at South Carolina from 2008-2012 and at his alma matter Western Kentucky from 2003-2008. He has also been an assistant coach at WKU, Morehead State and Marquette.
He is replacing John Brannen, who left to take the head coaching position at Cincinnati.
NKU has made the NCAA Tournament two of the last three seasons.
