Cincinnati Reds Fan makes lamps for Hall of Fame

Big weekend for the Reds

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Cincinnati Reds are celebrating their 150th season this weekend, and one Reds fan is also making a mark by designing a history-inspired Hall of Fame Gift Shop item.

Some of the work of Lexington, Kentucky’s Shannon Lamp Service owner David Shannon is on display in the Hall of Fame. His designs include lamps featuring a pictures of Crosley Field and bobble heads of past Reds players.

A few months ago Shannon was approached by the Hall of Fame, he says. They had just finished up renovations and were looking for some unique items to add to their gift shop.

“I am a fan of the game. I am a fan of the history of baseball,” Shannon said. “You know this kind of felt like I was part of the team.”

In honor of its 150th anniversary, the team will wear throwback uniforms at 15 different home games this season. During Saturday’s game, players and coaches will be in 1902 Reds uniforms.

The first 20,000 fans at the gate Saturday will receive the 150th Anniversary Commemorative Mr. Redlegs Bobblehead in an 1869 Red Stockings uniform.

The team will be dedicating the new 1869 pavilion as a tribute to the Red Stockings near the Reds Hall of Fame.

The Reds face off against the San Francisco Giants on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday’s game will feature the summer program Firework Friday.

The first pitch is at 7:10 p.m. for Friday and Saturday. Sunday’s game begins at 4:10 p.m.
