CINCINNATI, Ohio (FOX19) - A Cincinnati Public Schools investigation into possible inappropriate contact between a student and paraprofessional has resulted in the paraprofessional’s termination.

The investigation stems from an incident from this past Friday. CPS plans to report the termination to the Ohio Department of Education’s Office of Professional Conduct.

According to reports and interviews, after an evening school event, the adult placed his hands on the student’s face and allegedly kissed a female student on the cheek more than once while holding her face in his hands. The student and witnesses immediately reported this to school officials.

The employee has been on leave pending the results of the investigation.

The situation was reported to Cincinnati Police, a standard operating procedure.

School and district officials have contacted school staff this week to review these procedures and will continue to offer the students, witnesses and the families any necessary support.

The following statement was issued by a CPS spokesperson:

Today CPS concluded its investigation into an incident that occurred last Friday involving inappropriate contact between a paraprofessional and a student. Based on the CPS investigation, his employment has been terminated. CPS is reporting this termination to the Ohio Department of Education’s Office of Professional Conduct.
