CINCINNATI, Ohio (FOX19) - Jury deliberations are underway in the Deonte Baber murder trial.
He’s accused of killing Jamie Urton, who was gunned down in his car after he accidentally struck a child who ran out into traffic on Kenton Street in Walnut Hills.
After two weeks of testimony, the jury now has the case. They will continue on Monday.
Prior to closing arguments, Baber’s defense team wanted the jury to hear five separate 911 calls that were placed right after the shooting. They then showed the video were the 4-year-old boy was hit by a car driven by Urton.
The child was not seriously injured.
The security video shows a man approach the car and fire five shots, according to the prosecution. The prosecution focused their closing arguments on a blue jacket with an orange stripe worn by a man who approached Urton’s car and opened fire.
A similar jacket, the prosecution says, was seen on Baber in a Facebook photo posted two weeks before the shooting.
Baber was arrested two months later in Northern Kentucky.
Baber’s defense attorney argued that anyone could have a jacket like that.
