Storms, gusting winds to follow Sunday’s dry start

Sunday is a First Alert Weather Day

CINCINNATI, Ohio (FOX19) - It will be a dry start to your Sunday but changes are on the way as more widespread rain and storms will fire up in the afternoon and evening.

Sunday is now officially a First Alert Weather Day.

Look for a humid afternoon with highs near 81 degrees. A quick-moving cold front will move into the region from afternoon into the evening and early overnight. While a chance of a pop up especially west of the Ohio and Indiana border is possible any time after 12 p.m., the best chance for widespread rain and storms for all of us will be between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. Some of these storms could be strong to severe with damaging wind, lightning, and heavy downpours.

Additionally, out in advance of this cold front, winds will be gusty. We can expect a breezy and windy afternoon, with some gusts near 45 mph. A wind advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Behind this front we will see a cooler start to the upcoming week. High temps on both Monday and Tuesday will only manage low to mid 70s under partly sunny skies.

Thunder chances return on Wednesday, with temperatures from the middle to end of the week back into the mid to upper 80s. As of now at least the first part of your Memorial Day weekend looks hot and steamy with highs in the mid 80s.
