LEBANON, Ohio (FOX19) - The first medical marijuana dispensary in southwest Ohio opened in Warren County Tuesday morning.
The About Wellness Ohio dispensary is located at 1525 Genntown Dr., across the street from Walmart, in Lebanon.
Several people were lined up outside the store before it opened.
“Here it is ladies and gentlemen, our first official menu ready for Opening Day. Hope to see all of you there tomorrow at 9am,” reads the latest post on the business’ Facebook page.
According to our media partners with the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Lebanon store was one of 59 dispensaries in the state with provisional licenses.
Spencer Faulring said he suffers from fibromyalgia, sensory neuropathy, degenerative disease and stomach problems. He said the pain he feels now will decrease by at least 80 percent.
“A lot of this will replace painkillers... neuromtin, which is really bad for you," he said.
That means they had to wait to be certified to operate before they can begin selling marijuana buds or cannabis-infused products prescribed to treat one of 21 qualifying conditions under Ohio’s medical marijuana law, they say.
By the end of April, the Enquirer says 13 of the 59 dispensaries became certified, but none in Southwest Ohio.
About Wellness Ohio is the first of what the Enquirer says are seven dispensaries within a 60-mile radius of Cincinnati to become certified.
