EAST END, Ohio (FOX19) - Riverview East Academy in the East End was put on a brief precautionary lockdown Wednesday morning while Cincinnati police and a SWAT team responded to a report of a suicidal woman with a gun to her head.

All students are safe and were able to continue with their normally scheduled classes, said Lauren Worley, spokeswoman for Cincinnati Public Schools.

District 2 Sgt. William Bell successfully quickly defused the tense situation with the despondent woman about 10 a.m., police said. She was in a vehicle in a business parking lot in the 4500 block of Kellogg Avenue.

She surrendered without incident and was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, police said.

The woman, whose name was not immediately released, faces charges of disorderly conduct due to creating an alarm and possession of less than 100 grams of marijuana, they said.

Since she will be held at the hospital for a medical evaluation the next 72 hours, she likely will be cited to court, according to police.
